The pupils in our school embraced STEM in a very meaningful and enjoyable way when they recently presented their science experiments and activities to parents, grandparents and staff and children from Carrickroe Community Childcare at our Science Showcase Day! The children worked in groups and their teams were delighted to have the opportunity to carry out the experiments and explain the process to their captive audience. Every child in the school was involved and the event was a resounding success. Experiments included all aspects of science. They included making butter, shaving foam rain clouds, growing a rainbow, sound jars, lava lamps, a height and shoe size survey, reaction times, electromagnets, burning candles, food containing fat testing,  heat from friction, periscopes, colours in light, frog life cycle, animals and their babies, magnets, taste testing, dancing raisins, making bubbles and Beebots and Lego We Do! The children also demonstrated the Green screen facility, the art combined with science etching and print work and a space corner with stories on aliens and a study on famous astronauts.
