Our team competed in the Knockout Stages of the All Ireland Debating Concern Competition in the Silverbirch Hotel in Omagh and we are now in the final eight schools in the country. The whole team was involved in a fun feedback activity when we arrived. They reflected on their involvement in the team and on the different topics that they have debated throughout the year. Then the speeches and refuting begun! The team successfully proposed the motion ‘Protestors should give up on disruptive protest.’ It was a challenging motion and we debated against an extremely capable and competitive team from Sooey N.S. in County Sligo. There was huge delight when the result was announced. Our wonderful speaking team, our timekeeper and our chairperson did us all proud! Comhghairdeachas do na buachaillí i rang a ceathair, rang a cúig agus rang a sé a chuidigh leis an díospóireacht. We are thankful also to the organisers who made us feel so welcome and looked after the team and the spectators. We thank the adjudicators who gave very helpful advice and were full of praise for both teams. We also thank the team and teacher from Sooey School who were both sporting and friendly. So our team now compete in Dublin in May. Maith sibh foireann Doire Bhoithe!
