Our school was represented by some of our pupils and staff at a celebration day held in the Guild Hall in Derry to mark the wonderful project that we have been involved in. It’s the Creative Connections project that gives the children wonderful opportunities to work with different artists throughout the year and indeed connect with other cross border cross community schools in our cluster group.
This day again was organised by Creative Schools Ireland under the Shared Island initiative. Cuireadh fáilte mhór romhainn. We were welcomed officially by the Mayor of Derry and a number of engaging activities were organised for the day. We met children and staff from other schools. We had a tour of the Guild Hall and its environs. The senior children from our school were interviewed on stage about the project and all the children were invited to record their perspectives on the creative opportunities they had during the year. Everyone enjoyed the delicious breakfast and lunch. Some of the art work that the children had produced was displayed in the Guild Hall. The day concluded with a percussion workshop when everyone in the hall was involved.
It certainly was a memorable day for all. Well done to our children who represented our school exceptionally well. Maith sibh a pháistí!
We are extremely privileged to be part of Creative Connections and the good news is that we have been invited to continue to be involved over the next academic year. Tá áthas an domhain orainn. We are indebted to the team from Creative Connections for providing us with these creative and collaborative learning opportunities and for organising the huge celebration.
Ár míle buíochas leo uilig. Bhí lá den scoth againn.
