This year every child in our school wrote at least one book for the Write a Book Competition, organized and run by the Monaghan Education Centre. Many genre were represented in the entries, though they were mostly fiction. Every child deserves a lot of credit for planning the book, writing the book, editing the book, illustrating the book, designing covers and writing blurbs. Some children got a highly commended award. Others got merit awards. These children were invited to a very special award ceremony in the Garage Theatre in Monaghan town. An author entertained the children and gave them lots of ideas and encouraged them to continue using their creativity and imagination. Then the children had to step forward to receive their Certificates of Merit and their medals. Well done to all our children on their achievement in completing their own books. These books are something to be treasured and something to be proud of.
