We are extremely fortunate again here in Deravoy to be awarded a place on the Blast Residency Programme, coordinated locally by Monaghan Education Centre. Tá an t-ádh orainn.
The aim of Blast is to provide pupils a time and space to work with a professional artist on imaginative and joyful projects. It also provides opportunities to learn and develop key skills and competencies of collaboration, critical thinking, problem solving and innovation.
Our Artist in Residence is Mary Scott, a renowned Monaghan town artist and our rang a cúig agus rang a sé look forward to working with her this term. The children have already brainstormed ideas and decided to choose their own area as the theme of the project. They have been taking around taking photos of interesting places for example, the natural drumlins and buildings in the area. They have done some sketching and looked at how Scotish artist Nicki Monaghan has portrayed her home area in fun and colourful paintings.
We look forward to how our combined class team’s masterpiece will look like. Tá sceitimímí orainn.
